The victorinox evowood 14 is a hybrid knife between wenger's evowood 14 and the victorinox climber. It is a beautiful little pocket knife. Let's start with some specs.
The knife is 85 mm long, true to the standard wenger length, and 20 mm wide at the widest point, which is about the same as the 4 layerd victorinox huntsman.
The handels or scales are made of walnut wood and hold no scale tools, like tooth pick or tweezer, etc. but they do look and feel awesome with the ergonomic cut. Unlike the picture it has no cut out for the awl.
The tools:
Top layer has the most tools, starting from back to front it has:
Nail file, wenger model with a nail cleaner tip, that could be used with minimum tork for select philips screws.
Main blade, wenger model, speerpoint, around 55 mm long cutting edge. Has a nice belly to it and as always with SAK's easy to sharpen.
Scissors, wenger style, serrated, self sharpening ( never needed that), it has a built in lever that acts like a spring wich is not user replaceable and can get stuck, it did with this knife the second time I used it, just bend it slightly back a bit and it will be springy again. Very annoying. I still prefer the victorinox style scissors for me, but it is a matter of personal preference.
Cap liter, bottle opener with screwdriver and wire stripper. Wenger model. It does a good job at opening bottles, and used as a screwdriver it has a friction lock, meaning that when you push on it, it will slide back into the handle a bit and won't close on your fingers, nice. And of course a wire stripper that I have never used on any model, but you may find a use for it. Has no half stop at 90 degrees.
Can opener, victorinox model of the 84 mm models, it opens a can and with practise can do it faster then a dedicated can opener. It also has a small screwdriver on the top that can be used on more common phililps screws.
The back tools:
Corkscrew, for me more important than a philips, victorinox style and does fit the mini screwdriver.
Awl, victorinox style, hallelujah! Way better then the one from wenger, with a sharpened edge and a sowing eye.
Key ring, well, it's a key ring, nothing special, you may want to put a lanyard or something on it. The knife will be probably to large for attaching it to you keys.
And that's all the tools. Fit and finish could be a bit better, the wood sticks a bit out from the liners, but really that is nitpicking. The victorinox logo looks like it is lasered in, and on the main blade on one side it says "victorinox, swiss made, delemont" , nothing on the other side.
I really like this knife, but because of a few minor details I cannot give this one 5 stars.
