To begin (and we have A LOT to un-pack here…)
This is a VERY unique watch.
Of course, you high-probability had that figured from the whole 'Wood' angle….
But that is just the beginning!
This particular version has multiple nested wheels of 'Hour'-'Minute'-'Seconds', etc…
These wheels are read via a multi-tiny window-slot scale to read the time in.
It`s unique…It`s cool….
It`s also virtually impossible to read in anything other than bright, direct light.
The watch has no interior illumination, and the nested wheels are dark wood…with black numbering.
The watch DOES keep good time.
The watch keeps the 'Seconds' on the tiny wheel in 5 Second increments, so no 'Stopwatch' accuracy here.
This watch is very lightweight –as you would expect, with wood replacing metal in the construction.
That Wood frame …. That oh-so-cool-looking WOOD FRAME
While this is very eye-catching and absolutely unique… it also creates a very annoying problem.
The watch is NOT WATERPROOF.
They make sure to tell you that in the small instruction pamphlet.
Do Not get the watch WET!
Do Not let the watch strike any 'hard objects'….
Do Not expose the watch to 'prolonged direct sunlight'….
Do Not expose the watch to 'temperature extremes, either hot or cold'….
Do Not expose the watch to 'perfumes, cosmetics, detergents and other liquids'…. (WOW!)
Do Not expose the watch to 'strong magnetic fields'….
They give you a temperature range that the watch does not mind (41 degrees to 95 degrees)….
They warn you the watch gets temperamental if the ambient temperature is out of it`s comfort range.
The (GENUINE!) Leather wrist band is nice, a soft leather that feels good….'
However, I will warn you that any leather band can suffer from too much exposure to SWEAT.
The concept of perspiration worries me….Will SWEAT effect the wood?
(again; Do Not Get The Watch WET!!)
By this (dare-I-say-it?) …time… you may be grasping my inevitable point:
This VERY STYLISH watch is essentially 'The Princess And the Pea' of Timepieces.
It is SO SENSITIVE!
You have so many things to be careful of while wearing it.
Frankly, I like this watch…I like unique items….
But this watch has so many critical 'Do Not' fill-in-the-blank stipulations it has limited practical use.
I cannot imagine actually wearing this for 'regular' use.
This watch (yes, I dare say it!) WOOD be good to wear as a 'conversation starter' on special occasions.
Special occasions where you have total control of the environment.
An environment where you have no contact with anything wet….
…..and do not really need to know the time at night!
Bottom Line; More of a fun curiosity, than a useful timepiece.
