An instant collectible
I have the PADI Turtle version of this watch and it’s my all-time favorite Seiko. Reasonably accurate (for a mechanical watch), very attractive blue dial, very good lume, smooth timing bezel, comfortable to wear and tough as nails. 4R36 movement with hacking, self-winding and lots of reliability. Stainless steel bracelet with extension that will likely never wear out on me (I’ve only worn out one (1) Seiko bracelet, and that took me more than a decade of flat-out abuse – on an early 4004 model quartz watch). When I saw the “King Turtle Manta” I just couldn’t resist. So I bought it on Amazon and have been wearing it daily. This “King Turtle, Manta” ups the ante on the Turtle PADI quite a bit, adding a sapphire crystal and ceramic bezel insert … plus a flat-out stunning blue dial. Yeah, the Manta’s are a little hard to see. Oooops! But the “Great Blue Hole” effect of the color and brightness pattern, sweeping from black at the edges to bright, textured blue in the center, is crazy good and can be seen from feet away. The workhorse 4R36 movement in the King Turtle never seems to vary by more than 10 seconds a day in my use and provides a day and date display, which is made even more readable by a cyclops magnifier over BOTH day AND date. First time I’ve ever seen THAT feature in a watch. Seiko’s clearly having some fun with this one!The entire watch is made in Japan, per the back cover. It reeks of quality. And stands up pretty well to another favorite of mine, the Rolex GMT Master II with sapphire crystal, cyclops magnifier (date only) and ceramic bezel.Nope, the Seiko’s NOT a Rolex. Not even close. Looks nothing like one, costs nothing like one (about 1/30th the price), not quite as accurate or isochronus. But. It’s. Pretty. Darn. Good. Very, very good, actually. And I like it just as much as the Rolex. And don’t mind banging it up too much, either. The bracelet appears to have solid links, it HAS solid END-links, a stamped, not machined fold-over double-locking clasp with pin based micro-adjustment and flimsy looking but pretty strong in reality extension. It’s wide and comfortable, for a bracelet. IMHO, noting beats soft leather for comfort – so that’s my standard – but on a DIVING watch? No way. And yes, the Rolex’s infinitely (touch) adjustable bracelet with machined clasp is built better. And works a little better. But then, just the bracelet costs 3-4X what the entire King Turtle does. And both bracelets work just fine. That said, like almost all Seiko bracelets, it uses the Seiko-unique “pin and collar system”, where link pins are held in place by a truly minute collar, just slightly bigger than a grain of sand. Once in place, that link will NOT be coming apart. Problem is, it’s very difficult to resize without losing the collar. I’ve even had Seiko dealers “fake it” and add or remove links without the collar. THEN the link comes undone at the worst possible moment. Ouch! With it’s classic heritage (my brother wore his Turtle throughout his Navy/UDT/Seal career), sapphire and ceramic appointments and stunning dial – this one’s a keeper.Hard to believe it won’t become a collectible. But not for me. I’m “wearing mine to death”.

Best seiko for the money
One of my favorite. 7.25 inch wrist. Great quality for the price. Sapphire crystal and ceramic bezel looks great. Dial is amazing in natural light. Watch is large but, its cushioned case back makes very easy to wear. I love it. Highly recommended.

My new favorite watch
I was hesitating to purchase a Seiko Turtle 45mm because I thought it would wear too large for my 7.25 inch wrist. But when I saw this special edition dial I could not resist. The watch feels great on my wrist and really has a presence. It does not feel too large due to the case shape and tapering. The dial is really stunning under light. Pictures do not do it justice. I like the redesigned bezel edge and the ceramic dial and sapphire crystal combo with day and date cyclops. The seiko watch band is pretty good on this model and has a divers extension. I still replaced it with a strapcode jubilee though which I think adds to the look of the watchThe stock bracelet was a bear to resize. I have watches with pin and collar bracelets but this one differs from my others in how they are connected. I had to look up an online video to figure it out. I was slightly disappointed that the manta rays are difficult to make out on the dial. I have a Samurai save the ocean series great white which has a really nice dial but this dial blows that one away.So to summarize, if you are on the fence about getting this watch, go ahead and buy it!

Excellent watch for the price, great service
Very happy with the seller (Great Gift Company), item is new as advertised. Registered with seiko USA without any issues.Brilliant delivery time, only 4 days to South Africa! ordered 17/01, sent with UPS (Amazon Global priority shipping) and received on the 21/01.The watch itself is stunning, awesome blue/black dial, nicely done and tuned bezel, super bright markers & hands, excellent construction quality… what to say, a beautiful time piece. Fits just fine on my small 6 1/2 inches wrist.Unbeatable price at $439.00, even way below the recommended selling price set by seiko ($625.00)Would definitely recommend the seller, Amazon and of course, the watch itself

Watch appears to be either a return or used
The watch itself is awesome but the condition I received it in was not. The watch came without any paperwork and all of the film on it appeared to have been peeled off and reapplied with plenty of fingerprints all over the watch. Overall it looked like it was haphazardly packed into the box. I contacted the seller and they insisted that the watch is brand new despite my concerns.

Beautiful Watch. Mine arrived in cheap packaging with some flaws.
The watch itself is absolutely gorgeous. Had it not been for a few flaws It would have been a 5 star review and a great deal.First, the watch arrived in a cheap paper box and was missing the manuals. Warranty card was there but not filled out. Apparently this is normal for this model bought in the US. It SHOULD come in a nice Save the Ocean display box with leatherette pillow. Im not sure why this is, but My 200 dollar Orient came in a MUCH nicer box.Second, The watch itself had a couple flaws. The cyclops wasnt aligned properly. The minute hand was bent, looked like it was pressed on too hard, and the watch ran 30 seconds fast out of the box. Again, my 200 dollar Orient was perfect, and ran 3 seconds fast out of the box.Third, no warranty as all these watches come from vendors, not Amazon itself. There is just no excuse for this coming from a reputable watch company when compared with watches half the price owned by the same parent company Epson Corp.I returned the watch.
