OK, traditionally Hugo Boss watches were made by Movado,a reputable Swiss watch maker. But I am not sure now.Many designer brands that peddle watches (Calvin Klein, for one)will put on their watch dial face “SWISS MADE” as a badge of honor,signifying inherent/inferred quality, while others may denote “SWISS MOVEMENT”,even though rest of the watch components might be made/assembled elsewhere.Others may put “Japan Movement” in similar vein.Not that Japan movement is necessarily inferior but if your favorite designer brandswitched from Swiss made/movement to Japan movement, do you think it’s better?As witnessed by the current offerings from Hugo Boss watches, there isno inscription as to the origins of the watch movement, while their booklet insertclearly states that their movement is Made in Japan.My assumption is that comparable Japan Movement costs less than Swiss Made/Movement.Therefore, I see this as a sly cost cutting maneuver on part of Hugo Boss to pad the bottom line.I like Movado; therefore, I like Movado made Hugo Boss watches.I see value in their watches knowing that they were actually Swiss made.These newer Hugo Boss watches? Yeah, they are still nice watches with strong design elements,but for me, inherent value is no longer there for me at these prices now that they are no longer Swiss made.

This is a elegant looking watch without the premium price tag. The chronograph black and silver face gives me a classic yet modern age vibe to the overall watch. The subtle crocodile skin design on the genuine leather band is shiny and sleek looking enough for a night out or visit to the office.The glass is made from mineral crystal and very durable material to minimize scratching. I only worry about surface scratches from the stainless steel casing, but perhaps it will just add to its character with age. It is a battery powered watch, so you must have it serviced every so often. Manufacturer says 3 to 5 years maintenance with battery check/replacement.
