This watch is a definite marmite watch, you either love it or hate it. I found it really difficult to rate fairly as it’s beautiful, but has it’s drawbacks.Love it or hate it, there’s no denying that the workmanship that has gone into this watch is second to none.It has a titanium case with high gloss polish, dual curved sapphire crystal, and a 3D realistic recreation of earth. In 2021 it won the GPHG the Challenge Watch Prize category.The good things… It is beautiful to look at, and the meaning behind this watch reminding us to look after our planet is a gorgeous sentiment. The details in the surface of the earth is exquisite. The crystal has a perfect curvature, as does the shape of the earth, and the rubber strap is so much nicer and more comfortable than silicone.It is a very sturdy watch that absolutely has the ‘cool’ factor in my book.I love the the alternative time telling mechanism as there is no hand, as the compass points to the time, the hours are set in place and the minutes tick round.The bad bits… It’s heavy, and the watch itself sits quite proud on the wrist so is prone to knocking, it’s not a watch you would wear every day.Whilst I love the design and the way you tell the time, it certainly has it’s downside. The numbers are quite small, and because it’s so different it is difficult to tell the time quickly. The other thing that makes it difficult to tell the time is the curved crystal because you get a lot of reflection on it which again makes it tricky to see the time.Even with the bad bits, I still really like it. It’s definitely a conversation starter and a lovely addition to any collection.Is it worth over £1200? …I’m not convinced, it is a beautiful watch, but practical, it is not.
