Great simple watch!
Really nice looking watch. Clean look, very readable, and perfect alignment. The strap is not the most comfortable, but still acceptable and well made.For those less familiar with the Citizen Eco-Drive watches, if you experience the seconds hand skipping seconds, most likely the lithium battery charge is very low. Stop the watch, and let the battery charge for hours in direct sunlight or by poiting a flashlight about 1-2 inches away from the watch face (I would suggest to avoid going over 1200 lumens).For those experiencing the date not adjusting properly, please note from the Citizen manual:”Avoid performing the calendar quick setting operation between the below listed times:For watches equipped with both date and day display…9:00 PM-4:30 AM.”

Got small wrists?
This watch is a good choice for someone with small wrists like mine (6.25 in/160 mm). The case width is only 37.2 mm which is small for a man’s watch. The band can still be tightened to fit a smaller wrist if needed. I ordered the black finish which probably won’t be as durable as the stainless-steel finish over the long-term, but I thought it looked much better. Although the metal grommets make the fabric band more durable, they also tend to snag on the buckle when you pull back on the band to fasten it (see pic). The watch crystal is flat and sits nearly flush with the top of the case to help minimize scratches. The top surface of the watch case has a flat, less-reflective finish, while the bezel and sides have a glossy, high-polished look. I like the simple design with exposed lugs because it is easy to find replacement bands. My last Citizen Eco-drive lasted about 12 years. It was accurate too; I rarely had to reset the time. The money I saved on battery replacements almost paid for the watch. Solar-powered watches are the way to go.

Very small strap
The watch is nice, the citizen app is poor. I tired to register the watch on the app, unsuccessful. Had to go on pc.The strap is very short. I’m now spending another $20 buying a of brand watch band because I’m not a noodle wristed man. Maybe having man sized arms isn’t normal anymore.Irritating.

The day function stopped working on the second day. Not the sort of quality I was expecting, so I returned it. I owned a Citizen many, many years ago and loved how beautiful and well made it was. After owning several other brands, I thought Iâd try Citizen again now that it has eco drive technology. At least the watch kept time well for how briefly I used it. I still want the eco drive, so perhaps what Iâll do is find a model without the day/date complicating matters.

Love the watch, Hate the band!
So far I love this watch, easy to read and self-charging! The band on the other hand is terrible, for a quality watch I was surprise how bad the watch fit. The holes on the band are too far apart. it’s either too big or too tight. I ordered a quality aftermarket band and it works fantastic! Fits properly.

I have been looking for a decent field watch for several months now. Finally decided on this one and figured I would give it a try, it checks most of the boxes for me. When it arrived in the mail and I started wearing it, I found that I actually really really like this watch! There was another more expensive one that I kinda wanted a little more, but I’m actually really glad I went with this one. I got the black version which looks really sharp, apparently can only be bought on Amazon.The only things I would hesitantly complain about is that the watch band it comes with is pretty ugly, mostly just the metal eyelets, easily replaceable though. And the lume doesn’t appear to be very strong. Pretty difficult to see in the dark, but I also haven’t let it sit in direct sunlight much at all yet to charge the lume.I’m a mechanic and my wife and I own and operate a small ranch. So I really needed something tough, small (so it doesn’t impede work), and easy to read, but also good looking enough I can wear on a date night with a quick clean up. This definitely seems to meet that criteria!

Timekeeping ability initial impression, i.e. unscientific: good! A solid, lightweight watch that is comfortable on your wrist. The wristband, however, is merely functional; replace at first opportunity.Attractive watch face, although numerals and markers offer little contrast in low light. Note that it does not have a screw-down crown so the watch is water resistant, not waterproof. And if you like fewer scratches on the crystal, take precautions, since the crystal is set above the watch case. The watch case is glossy black, not matte. It’s not a fashion accessory, but a good watch. C.

! Must read if you think your watch is defective !J’ai lu de nombreux avis négatifs sur cette montre mais elle n’est pas défectueuse. Encore faut-il comprendre comment elle fonctionne:Déjà , il faut savoir que le premier cran du remontoir tourne dans les 2 sens, un sens pour changer la date et un sens pour changer le jour.Pour vérifier si la date et le jour tournent correctement, après avoir tiré le remontoir au deuxième cran (pour régler l’heure)1/ tourner les aiguilles dans le sens normal jusqu’à ce que la date change à l’équivalent de minuit (24h00).2/ continuer à tourner les aiguilles, le jour en anglais va passer en espagnol vers 02h00 am (par exemple SUN>SAB). Continuer à tourner jusqu’à qu’il passe au jour suivant vers 04h00 am (SAB>MON). Le prochain cycle se fera à minuit.3/ revenir en arrière avec les aiguilles (avant minuit).A partir du premier cran du remontoir, sélectionner la date-1 (en tournant dans le sens inverse) puis le jour-1 (en tournant dans le sens normal). Date-1 signifie que si on veut passer au 15 après minuit, il faut régler sur 14. Idem pour le jour. L’idéal étant de faire l’opération vers 20h00 (08h00 pm), considérant que les aiguilles sont dans la deuxième partie de la journée (entre midi et minuit).Si vous constatez que le jour ne veut plus bouger quand vous tournez depuis le premier cran, alors vous avez les aiguilles entre les chiffres 12 et 4 du cadran, équivalent entre minuit et 04h00 am. Dans ce cas, tourner les aiguilles à partir du deuxième cran pour aller au delà de 04h00.Enfin, pour ceux qui aiment les montres de la taille d’une horloge de salon et qui pèsent 1 kilo, passez votre route. This is my third Eco-Drive watch, the first a BM8180 has been excellent, never missed a beat in over seven years. The BM8186 was a replacement when I thought it lost, but, since found, I now have two. Both close enough to the WWII original I wore daily for 30 years until the cost of servicing, value, and delicacy of an 80 year old mechanism suggested an honourable retirement.This 8186 model is pretty much the same as the 8180: same E101 movement, nice clear dial, not too big, never needs winding, if not for the non-perpetual calendar would rarely need adjusting . The dial is better on the older model, the ‘Citizen’ name better placed, more discrete and with better symmetry. Also, to my eyes the numerals are just a hairs-breadth broader â the older model is just a touch sharper overall, less blobby. For perfection one might also ask that the black case was matt rather than semi-gloss.Citizen’s straps always disappoint, those bright oversized shiny eyelets on the strap are an eyesore; the strap was immediately replaced with something less loud, matt-black silicone rubber.A good watch, I expect it to wear and endure as well as the others.
