Fenix 2 Battery Replacement: A Success
This replacement battery breathed new life into my old Fenix 2. Installation was straightforward, aside from the delicate soldering required to replace the old battery. The watch powered on immediately with 30% charge. Initially, charging seemed problematic; it would start normally but then begin discharging rapidly, even while plugged in. I worried the battery was faulty, but the issue was simply dirty charging terminals. After cleaning both the watch and charger contacts, it charged perfectly. Overall, I’m very pleased with this purchase.

awesome!
this battery solved all my problems with the watch that wasn’t working. it needed power and now it’s got power. it charges and then some. before this battery i got nothing. because the last battery was dead, so that makes sense. and when i replace the battery everything is great again and the watch works. just what i wanted. my only complaint is that they dont update the software anymore and the watch working is great but now its boring because it doesn’t upgrade to a more recent version of software. oh sacre blue. in know thats a mipsellign but i don’t care if im not in france anymore.

good deal, a little fiddly to install, restores the time between charges
The battery is, it seems, made by the original manufacturer and is a first rate replacement. My fenix 2, which needed to be charged every two or three days has been going for a week and still has a half charge. Well worth seventeen bucks and ten minutes of fiddling around to install it!Some installation tips: there is a small and somewhat fragile O ring around the case rim. try not to dislodge it when you take the back case off. the battery is glued to the base of the case, pry it up very carefully using a plastic tool. you do not want to puncture the battery, trust me. note the orientation of the battery when you remove it as you must orient it the same way or the case won’t close. there are small pieces of tape holding the leads in place, save it if you can to use with the new battery. you do need a soldering iron with a fine tip but you probably will get away with the solder that is already on the pads when re-attaching it.

Battery works great, charges effectively, and Garmin Fenix lasts many days on a charge.
I bought this battery for an aging (8 years) Garmin Fenix 2. The original battery wasn’t holding a charge for very long, It was losing a lot of power in one day. The new battery from Amazon was exactly like the original battery. Granted, you need to watch a few YouTube videos to learn how to swap the old and new battery and soldering is required, but not too technical. The new battery was at 24% charge when connected. After charging to full, I found the battery lost nearly 0% during a 24 hour period. It is performing like the old watch battery when it was new!

Battery last over 25 days with out charging
Easy install if you know how to solder. After fully charged the battery lasted 25 day. Put it on charger 17% it could last longer. Brought back my old Garmin watch worth every penny.

Brought my old watch back to life
The battery has my watch operating like it did out of the box. It has a 3-4 week life before I need to recharge it. The only downside is that it is very difficult to replace. (Not the batteries fault) You can find detailed instructions on youtube if you feel comfortable soldering, but in my case I paid a jewler to replace it.

Gave my Fenix 2 a new life!
After 4+ years, my Fenix 2 would charge up to 100%, and after a few runs, around 65%, it would start randomly re-booting and behave oddly. I looked at replacement options, and frankly I just use the watch for GPS mileage and pace, so I wasn’t interested in spending several hundred on the newer models, and I like the ruggedness of the Fenix line.Hoping it would help, and worried I might screw it up, I bought this replacement battery. You’ll find a couple youtube videos that walk through the process. You’ll need a torx driver, (I believe it was a T9 that fit the case screws), a spudger or other separating tool to gently pry the battery from the rear of the case, and a soldering iron with a fine tip. Oh, and good lighting and eyes.It took only about 10-15 minutes start to finish, and I am not a confident solder-er, so I was worried I would over do it and end up with a shorted wire, or some other problem would screw me up. It went great, and after a couple full battery cycles I am back to new-condition in terms of battery life and being able to run it all the way down!

Saved my old Garmin Quatix from the trash bin.
The installation of the battery can be a bit fiddley. Take your time when removing the old battery – the biggest challenge is having to solder the leads to the flexible strip in the watch. Use a fine point soldering iron and try not to heat the flexible strip – only a small drop of solder is needed. Also as with most old Garmin’s it’s important to erase all the old waypoints and tracks from the device. Once I did that, the watch last over 3 weeks between charges and I get almost a full 8 hours when using the GPS. Much better than having to buy a new $800 plus marine navigation watch – sure the new ones can show charts and connect to your boats autopilot but it’s still only a one inch screen – charts on such a screen are not much used to those of us needing reading glasses!
