The Founding of Omega
In 1848, Louis Brandt started a small watchmaking workshop in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland. Brandt was only 23 years old at the time, but he was determined to create high-quality watches that were both accurate and reliable. He began by assembling watches from parts produced by local craftsmen, but he soon realized that he could improve quality and efficiency by producing his own parts in-house.
In 1879, Brandt’s two sons, Louis-Paul and Cesar, took over the business after their father’s death. Under their leadership, the company continued to expand and innovate. They introduced new technologies, such as the crown winding system and the minute-repeating watch, which chimed the time in hours, quarters, and minutes.
In 1894, the Brandt brothers launched a new watch brand, Omega. They chose the name because it represented the ultimate achievement, the end point of excellence. The brand quickly gained a reputation for quality and innovation, and it became one of the most respected watchmakers in Switzerland.
Omega continued to innovate in the early 20th century, introducing new technologies such as the split-second chronograph and the wristwatch with central seconds hand. In 1932, Omega became the official timekeeper of the Olympic Games, a role it has held for every Games since then.
In the 1950s and 60s, Omega’s watches became popular among pilots, divers, and astronauts. The company introduced the Seamaster, which was designed for underwater exploration, and the Speedmaster, which became the first watch to be worn on the moon during the Apollo 11 mission in 1969.
In the 1980s and 90s, Omega continued to expand its range of watches, introducing new models for both men and women. The company also embraced new technologies, such as the quartz movement and anti-magnetic materials.
Omega remains one of the most respected and admired Swiss watch brands in the world. The company continues to innovate and push the boundaries of watchmaking, while still maintaining a commitment to traditional craftsmanship. With a rich history and a bright future, Omega is a brand that continues to inspire and captivate watch enthusiasts around the world.

repetitive
They could have written this in 16 pages. Very general overview and just repeats itself in every chapter. Pretty boring.
