The craftsmanship on this watch winder/display is for the most part quite good! Not perfect, but good, and I'll cut to the chase explain why. I'll get right into the negatives first and lay out the positives after. When you look closely, you'll see that the stick-on pads on the winders are not aligned with care, seems like a rushed or careless assembly. Also, the door must be a bit heavy for the hinges because when I go to close it, the latch doesn't line up perfectly with the striker like it should, it kind of hits the bottom and positions itself into place, making closing it a touch harder than the manufacturer intended. I noticed if I give the door a firm push upwards before closing the door, it closes and latches as intended. This is a minor issue, once it's closed, it's closed and lockable. I also wish they'd have put a plastic film on the inside of the door for shipping as well as they did outside. There is one on the outside, and it kept the glass clean, but inside I had a bit of sawdust and smudges I had to wipe out. Looks terrific now! I also wish there was a setting to dim the light rather than just have on or off. I'd like to keep the light on in my bedroom while I sleep, but that light is just too bright and disturbing with my bed sitting lower than where I've placed the box; I can see the LED strip in the roof clear as day from my bed. Finally, the weight distribution seems slightly ill-planned. While the door is open, all watch positions are occupied, and the jewelry drawer is open, it still wants to tilt forward. It's not in a hazardous way, but I would've thought the weight of my watches would keep it grounded even with the door and drawer open… I guess not. Onto the good stuff! Aside from everything above, it's honestly a very well-built watch box. The winders are whisper quiet; I can't hear a thing. My blue watch on the right winder is very heavy for a watch and it's mounted on there with another fairly heavy watch, yet the mechanism makes no straining noise at all. The wood is of good quality throughout, the jewelry box feels quite substantial in the hand, and even the key is made of a solid chunk of heavy metal that feels very nice in the hand. The inside of the box has that "new car smell" every time you open it up. The key is just a triangle shape, nothing difficult to pick if someone wanted to, and of course the glass can be broken or the box breached by other means. The key-lock is just to keep your kids or other close-caring individuals out, or prevent accidentally opening it, obviously not going to keep a burglar out. You can set the winders to either turn left only, right only, both ways, or both ways with an extended rest period. I noticed the door only opens to 90 degrees. I have another smaller watch winder by the same company and that one opens 180 degrees. Strange because the hinges don't look all that different. But this doesn't matter for me, maybe it will for you, just thought I'd put it out there. My other watch winder by this company is also much louder in operation for some reason, but I'm happy to report this one is super silent, like I said before. I'd say this is a good purchase. I don't have 4 automatic watches yet, only 2, but I do have just enough watches to cram them all inside this display case, and I love it! Looks great, feels great, operates great. And I love the deep pocket in the jewelry box, can fit lots in there if need be.
