This is the best watch produced by Pagani Design to date…
If you know anything about Pagani Design watches, you already know that they make “homage watches” that offer a lot of value for your dollar–albeit with quality-control quirks that have always managed to keep Pagani Design watches out of the top-tier Chinese watchmaker ranks (e.g. San Martin).However, with this interpretation of the Rolex Explorer II, Pagani Design has produced a watch that is comfortable, reliable, and of the highest levels of fit-and-finish I’ve seen. The milled clasp, perfectly fitted end-links, and bracelet with screws in lieu of push-pins (or those dreaded pin-and-collar monstrosities)–all deserve special mention here because they come together in a terrific rattle-free combination. Yes, for whatever reason, the dreaded pressed-steel dive extension remains…but, I guess that it wouldn’t be a Pagani Design watch without at least one “characteristic” that leaves owners questioning it’s purpose or need.The top-hat sapphire crystal is clean and clear. The magnification-window is also made of sapphire and, on my watch, was properly centered and usable. Case finishing is excellent if not exceptional for a watch costing under $150. The immovable bezel is brushed in a lovely outward pattern away from the dial.Lume is about the best ever seen on a Pagani Design watch, and the Mercedes handset and GMT hand with the aged-radium “faux-tina” really add to the aesthetic of the timepiece.The movement winds and hacks, and in my watch it runs about two or three seconds fast per 24 hours. The timegrapher recorded 0.2 beat-error on a mechanism running at 21,600 bph. The date switchover is swift, albeit the date wheel is white with black numbers (for better readability) instead of black with white numbers.Although the movement is more accurate out-of-the-box than some Seiko watches (or microbrand watches sporting the ubiquitous SII NH35 engine), unfortunately, the minute hand doesn’t always align with the dial markers–so, if you are obsessive-compulsive, that could be somewhat irksome.There’s also no display-back on this watch, but a nice solid stainless steel caseback with a rather restrained engraving of a compass-design and gently waving sea. The crown is a screw-down crown, marked with the Pagani logo, and it works without any issues.All in all, a tidy, quality package that makes a GMT watch affordable and attainable.Yes, it is a homage with “derivative design” cues from the Rolex original. And, yes, the Steinhart Ocean One Vintage GMT 39 is likely the closest approximation of the fabled Rolex Explorer II made in Switzerland. But, for $139 or less, you will be hard pressed to find something nicer or better.

Solid value on an attractive Explorer II homage.
Amazing value for the price. I own two Rolexes, and the build quality of the chassis of this watch is 75% or more the quality of them at 1% the price. It’s a heavy, solid, well made piece. New Rolex Explorer II’s are impossible to find, so bought this one to see just how good it is. The movement quality and durability remains to be seen, but so far it functions perfectly, with accuracy over the first two weeks of -4 seconds per day, very close to both my Rolexes! The minute and second hands register accurately with the face markers. The applied hour markers are very well done. The case and band finish are both excellent. The screw-in band adjustment pins work very well, but the screw driver provided for the purpose is useless. Use a good precision driver. The GMT complication works perfectly, but it is a little tricky to find the right spot on the stem to adjust. One direction advance the GMT hand, the other the date. Pulling stem fully out hacks the second hand and provides minute/hour adjustment. The lum is OK but not Rolex/Seiko quality. It is an obvious Explorer II homage without being a fake Rolex. I haven’t tested the waterproof rating, but am satisfied that it will be more than adequate for routine use. I have true divers for intense water adventures. As a great looking, functional GMT that you won’t be devastated to lose, it fits the bill for a lot of routine use. Will probably buy a second one with the black dial.

High value homage to the Rolex Oyster Perpetual
Rolex makes a similar watch that has a list price over $6,000 and a street price well over that. I’m not saying this watch is anything like a Rolex, but if you like that look, this is a high value alternative. I know the light blue dial color is probably a trend but I really enjoy wearing it. It adds a nice bright pop of color to some otherwise mundane looking outfits. The Seiko NH35 automatic watch movement is reliable, accurate, and inexpensive to replace if something happens to it. The bracelet has solid end links, solid links with screws, and the clasp has a diver’s extension and three position micro-adjustment. The screw down case back and stem offers a listed 100-meter water resistance that gives me confidence enough to wear it in almost any environment. I’m very happy with this watch and would replace it if something happened to it.

Non c’è che dire: un GMT proprio bello (4 indici: ore, minuti, secondi, e frecciona del secondo fuso orario, da usare in riferimento alla ghiera fissa, con indicazione delle 24 h). Bello nella forma e anche nel meccanismo, e pure nel bracciale. Si sa che imita l’estetica di un orologio famoso, di grande marca. Ciò può piacere o non piacere, a seconda dei gusti e delle idee. Ma imita bene. Arriva in una scatolina elegante, ben confezionato. L’ho messo alla prova per qualche giorno, e posso dire che anticipa di soli +4 secondi al giorno. Dunque un movimento molto buono. Sarò stato fortunato, ma è un risultato che fa piacere e fa pensare bene della ditta che produce l’orologio. Mi sembra discreta anche la fosporescenza, ma non so bene quanto duri, perché non l’ho osservato tutta la notte. Comunque mi pare migliore di quella di altri orologi cinesi, in cui dura pochissimo, e poi si spegne misaremente. Queste sono osservazioni a pochi giorni dall’acquisto, che è stato fatto per avere pronto un regalo (dunque, dopo le prove, ho riposto l’orologio nella scatola, in attesa del Natale). Se occorre, aggiornerò il giudizio in futuro.
