A Very Different Monster
I’ve been looking for a stainless steel bezel monster for a while now when I came across their latest generation. I thought I wouldn’t like the black bezel as much but after wearing it for a while, I really love it. It’s a very different watch than previous monsters in that it looks lot more “tame” with the stick indexes and subdued colors but it’s still a quality watch, especially for the price. Overall, it’s a capable watch with an in-house movement and unique design (vs a Submariner copycat)Pros:- 42mm case size and looks really good on my 6.75 inch wrist- One of the few Seikos I’ve seen with indices and hands that match and look good to me- Affordable- I really like the day-date complication- Silicon strap is comfortable and can expand in the heat when your wrist does. If you prefer a metal bracelet, the other monsters come with it, and I’m sure in due time Strapcode will make an aftermarket one- Lume works really wellCons:- 4R36 movement is robust, but only 40 hour power reserve and mine was running +45 secs/day fast! I figured out how to regulate it but I wish I didn’t have to- No sapphire crystal. For a watch known for its ruggedness, I’d expect a sapphire crystal. I already got a tiny nick on mine so at some point I’ll probably replace the crystal on it.- Some people don’t like the cyclops window. I don’t mind it.If you’re on the fence about this watch, I highly recommend you get it.

Good looking watch but for the money very disappointing product. They failed to deliver basic and that is for a watch to be precise. Thatâs at least we should get when we buy a watch. If thatâs not the case everything else does not matter. Returning it.

Solid Watch. Plus/Minus 2 mins a week.Sturdy.
Owned several Seiko Diver’s. Went from a Sub (too flashy) to this. The ONLY flaw with this watch is the band. It is comfortable; but, pops out of the clasp too easily. Just pop it back in; but, wish they would have made a better clasp/band holder that didn’t slide off. Still recommend, and yes, miss the Sub.

Refined Monster but still has some teeth
The new monsters have been a controversy but If you could experience one on your wrist you would know it is an wonderful looking watch that still has the monster DNA. The bar cyclops is not necessary but it also is not a deal breaker, it functions rather nicely and It’s been used in other monster generations and special editions. The Color is a nice ink black dial, with the bezel more of a gun metal dark grey, the white markings on the dial and bezel are more of an ivory color than pure white, I think this combination is elegant and gives a premium look. I have a small collection of monsters and and I am very happy with these new gen monsters, I missed out on the 3rd gen because they were selling at 3x the amount of the gen 2, The new gen 4’s are selling at 250-300 dollar range which is remarkable for a new monster. One of the things I really liked was the more refined bezel, on the side it has the monster tooth indentation that lines up with the case a nice nod to the gen 2 monsters. I put a gen 2 monster 20mm bracelet on this watch I prefer it over the rubber strap. I put a few monster side by side with the SRPD27 my wife picked out the SRPD27 as the best, she know nothing about the monsters, but I think it has a real great look to it. Of course it would be great to see a silver stainless steel bezel with orange dial or other special editions and a sapphire glass etc. but don’t hold your breath Seiko is just going to do what it wants, but the SRPD27 deserves it’s place in the Monster line up as an affordable and great looking monster.

Loving it so far
My husband has been using this for a week now and absolutely loves this. It’s solid, great quality and very accurate. What’s not to like? The rubber strap is super comfortable and feels a lot better than leather or metal.Wish the lume was a bit brighter, but it’s good enough.

K or J ?????????
I like the style of the watch !!! Seiko monster are awesome !!! My only dislikes are no stainless steel bracelet !!! Yes you buy an after market bracelet but at this price point it should come with one !!!! And my biggest complaint is its not made in Japan !! I always found made in Japan models to be more accurate !!!! So I send the watch back !!

Looks and feels just about the right size on my wrist, it does not scream “look at me”. And a good mix of elegant class and sporty feeling. I am 6′ tall and most regular-sized watches look rather small on my wrist. The rubber band provides a snug fit. The rotational bezel clicks&turns and always provides a feeling of precise rotation, unlike Sea-Dwellers or other Seikos in my collection. Very similar design to the Sea-Dweller, but do not mind the cyclops at all. Some complained about the visual contamination that the cyclops brings, and I can see why they feel that way. It would have a cleaner presence without the cyclops. I have in my collection mostly large watches because I find they go well with wide shoulders. This new acquisition will be my daily watch, displacing the rest in my collection:Rolex Sea Dweller 50th anniversaryCitizen skyhawk promasterMIDO Commander M842932213A couple of Rolex datejust, that look quite small on my wrist, seldom wear themFeniux 7x Solar, the largest by far of all of themSwatch IronyThe only thing I did not like much was that the packaging looked like it was an open box item. I never keep the boxes, and when I purchased other watches the boxes came sealed and wrapped. This one was pretty beat up, not aligned and it seemed they package it on the DHL truck on their way here. Nothing wrong with the watch itself, so I am keeping it and not returning it.
